Dr. Ted Jablonski, an award-winning teacher and family physician, discusses five tips for managing trans health in a busy emergency setting. He highlights the significance of addressing trans health due to the estimated one percent of the population being transgender or gender diverse. Nadia, the chair of the LGBTQIA+ committee, emphasizes the importance of addressing intersectionality and the challenges faced by trans people of color. She discusses language and terminology in healthcare and encourages the use of proper pronouns and avoiding assumptions about gender identity or transition. The presentation emphasizes the importance of gender-affirming and unbiased care and discusses surgical and medical procedures involved in gender transition. The talk also highlights the need for respectful and inclusive practices, such as using inclusive language and respecting preferred names and pronouns.
